Novo Therapy is here to walk alongside you in these hard, defeating thoughts. You are not alone and we are here to offer you coping mechanisms, healing and movement towards a life that makes you feel alive. When a depression episode hits it can feel as if you lose connection with yourself and relationships, have no desire to partake in activities you once loved, are constantly tired, have low motivation, struggle to eat or eat more than normal, feel like your life is worthless and you may even have suicidal ideation. These symptoms can feel isolating and fear inducing. At Novo Therapy we offer you a safe, non-shaming space to process all of these emotions and feelings at your own pace. You will never be judged for the way your mind is working, you will be accepted and seen. You are worthy of healing and healing is possible, it just may take some self compassion and understanding to get there. With the thoughts of worthlessness and the lack of desire to get out of bed, at times it can feel like therapy is the last thing you want to go to. This makes sense. It is brave to even be considering therapy. We encourage you to take a step towards healing by starting therapy. This will be a place where you can come to feel all your emotions or to talk about your numbness to emotions. Anxiety is a symptom of a deeper struggle going on. Whether that struggle is past/current trauma, a chemical imbalance, lack of coping mechanisms, stressful life situations, a response to work or school, unhealthy relationships, grief or anything else that throws your life out of equilibrium. We will help you better understand the root of your anxiety so that we can fully help you heal instead of just treating the outward symptoms. You deserve to feel peace and connection with yourself. Your life does not have to feel like a constant uphill battle where you are constantly fighting off your own thoughts. There is hope for growth, change, healing and thriving. If you decide to seek therapy for your anxiety at Novo Therapy you will be given an individualized therapeutic approach that fits your needs and comforts. This is your healing journey and you are in control, your therapist is here to offer you help along the way. You will never be ashamed for any thoughts or feelings that arise. The world constantly tells individuals to “hide your differences so you can fit in with the rest of humanity.” At Novo we believe your differences are what make you the beautiful human you are, you will never have to hide yourself from your therapist, we will accept who you are as you are. When approaching anxiety we will never do so in a way that feels completely overwhelming. We will slowly understand where your anxiety is coming from and how we can start to change your narrative from an anxious one to a thriving one. This happens through recognizing cognitions, behaviors, beliefs, emotions and feelings about yourself, the world and your relationships. As we give space for your anxious thoughts to breathe and come forward, you will find healing and a deeper understanding of yourself. photo from unsplash</image:caption>

      <image:title>EMDR Therapy - EMDR Therapy</image:title>
<image:caption>Are you feeling stuck in talk therapy causing you to lose hope? This can be common for people who have a mental wall or emotional block up to things from their past. Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy helps you heal from small and large traumatic and disturbing events in your life. There are moments throughout life where we unproductively process life events. This can happen through suppressing the life event, downplaying the importance of the life event, focusing on others instead of yourself and more. Our minds are beautiful and are able to protect us when we need to. That is why your mind might sometimes suppress a memory, your mind is doing this to protect you in that moment. While this is helpful at that time it may not be helpful always. Through EMDR we will reprocess the memories that are suppressed or wrongly remembered (for example if you put the blame on yourself for a situation that was not your fault). When this is done your body and mind are able to believe positive beliefs about yourself rather than the negative ones you have been holding onto your whole life. EMDR can be helpful for people who struggle with anxiety, depression, self esteem, trauma and more. As we grow up we learn how to cope with stress and anxiety. Sometimes these coping mechanisms are maladaptive and lead to processing memories believing you are not enough or worthless. If these memories are not reprocessed it may feel as if you constantly have a wall in front of your face and are unable to move forward. Novo Therapy helps you break down that wall and feel alive in your life. The EMDR Institute explains EMDR Therapy as: “When a disturbing event occurs, it can get locked in the brain with the images, sounds, thoughts, feelings and body sensations. EMDR seems to stimulate the information and allows the brain to process the experience. That may be what is happening in REM or dream sleep - the eye movements may help to process the material. It is your own brain that will be doing the healing and you are the one in control.” photo from unsplash</image:caption>

      <image:title>Self Esteem Therapy - Self Esteem Therapy</image:title>
<image:caption>It is uncomfortable, scary and difficult to live inside a body you do not feel proud of or good about. Whether you have struggled with an eating disorder, are currently struggling with an eating disorder, don’t feel comfortable in your skin, believe you need to look different to earn love or believe you need to be different to earn love, Novo Therapy is here for you. Through understanding your personal narrative, self talk and core beliefs we will be able to start moving towards a healthy view of yourself. Sometimes it is hard to believe that you will ever have a positive view of your body or yourself all together. If you have lived most of your life believing you are not enough it will take time to change your narrative. It is okay if you have lost hope, your therapist is here to hold out hope when you are at the end of your rope. You may feel defeated by your own thoughts, this is normal but there is going to be change, healing and lasting change through therapy. Yes, it is vulnerable to name your insecurities out loud, but it will bring freedom. You do not have to live up to the fake expectations of the world, we will figure out your personal values and you will learn how to thrive through those values while loving the skin you're in. Through therapy we will offer you a safe space to process the negative beliefs you have about yourself and start to work towards a positive healthy mindset. This mindset is one based on the fact that you hold value, importance and worth in this world. You are worthy of taking up space and through therapy you will begin to feel fully alive again or for the first time in your life. photo from unsplash</image:caption>

      <image:title>Trauma Therapy - Couples Counseling</image:title>
<image:caption>Are you exhausted from trying to explain yourself to your partner? Do you feel as if you don’t have the words to help your partner better understand your needs? Have you lost hope in your relationship? Novo Therapy is here to help breathe life into your relationship again. There are points in relationships where a wall is hit and it feels as if there is nowhere to go. When these moments come (which they do for most relationships) it helps to bring in a therapist to help each partner better understand how to move forward while caring for each other. Your relationship does not have to be “falling apart” to seek out counseling. Couples counseling is for those who are in an amazing relationship who just want to prevent any future hurt or for the couples who are at the end of their rope and are unsure if they can take another step forward. Wherever you are it is brave to come to counseling with your partner. This is vulnerable and exposing at times, but once we hit the real reason you and your partner are in the dance you are in the vulnerable and exposing will lead to love and intimacy. At Novo Therapy we help couples recognize the negative patterns in their relationship and give them the tools and space they need to slowly start to change their patterns to positive ones. There is no shame or guilt in the therapy room, everyone is accepted and seen equally. Starting couples counseling can be vulnerable but it will enhance your individual life and the life of your relationship. photo from unsplash</image:caption>

      <image:title>Couples Therapy - Trauma Therapy</image:title>
<image:caption>Are there memories that pop up at times that you wish wouldn’t? Are there life events, people, emotions that you are unable to let go of or move forward from? Trauma can come in all different shapes and sizes and everyone’s trauma will look different. The underlying fact is: we all have trauma to some extent. Whether it is one big moment, small moments throughout life or both. You are not alone in holding on to something that was said or done to you in the past. It is hard to move forward when you are still grieving what you have lost or did not get. It is important to approach life with an “and” instead of a “but.” During your time in counseling at Novo Therapy you will begin to learn that you can feel joy and sadness. You can experience freedom and still be held back by memories. This can free you to loosen the expectations to “just get over it” when that is not possible. Instead of feeling like you have to be 100% good or 100% bad, what if you just shot for somewhere in the middle and learned that that is where real, authentic life happens? American culture teaches individuals to have an all or nothing mindset. With processing trauma it is important to recognize that you are going to fall in the middle at times. It is not possible to “fix” your trauma. What is possible is giving yourself space to feel everything you need to and talk through the hardships you have faced. There are no expectations on your healing journey. You may move forward one day and stay stagnant the next, this is healing and you are worthy of healing. Embarking on your healing journey in regards to your trauma can feel overwhelming and impossible. Through Novo Therapy you can find freedom, healing and life as you process your trauma. Yes, it is overwhelming to think about bringing memories of trauma back up, but we are going to take it at your speed and direction. You are in control of your healing. photo from unsplash</image:caption>
